This course meets the job performance requirements outlined in NFPA 1002, Standard for Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications, Ch. 4 (General) & Ch. 5 (Pumper). The course identifies the elements necessary to operate a front-line attack pumper. This course introduces the student to the concepts and skills needed to function as an Engineer/Operator. The topics include preventative maintenance, tests & inspections, driving, apparatus operations, supplying sprinklers & standpipes, and water supply.
Those individuals who successfully complete all course requirements and applicable skills test will be eligible to test for Texas Commission on Fire Protection and/or State Firefighters' and Fire Marshals' Association Certification.
